Solve Problem Behavior

I want my dog to come  quit biting stop jumping pee outside stop aggression

To get started, register for  Puppy Kindergarten for dogs not yet six months of age or Level 1 for older puppies and dogs.

Some Things Your Dog Does Are Problems

You want your dog to:

  • Quit barking in the crate and at inappropriate times
  • Stop biting hands, ankles, clothing, etc.
  • Stop jumping you and other people
  • Come when you call – every time you call
  • Stop tearing up stuff when you’re gone
  • And quit other objectionable behavior

Your task as the trainer is to teach the dog to replace objectionable  behaviors with positive behaviors that you want. We will get started immediately to help you with this replacement task as part of Puppy Kindergarten or Level 1 training. Think about it as habit breaking. Put our 50+ years’ experience as a dog trainer to work for you.

Problem Behavior is a Teaching Task - Not Problem To Fix

The basic strategy for teaching new behavior is to identify the stimulus (the trigger) for the behavior and then expose your dog to the trigger and reward the dog for not acting on that trigger – jumping, biting, barking, etc.

. You are teaching the dog to pay attention to you, not the trigger, and to learn the positive behavior for ignoring the trigger.  Approach potty training is a teaching assignment.
